East Dallas Pollinator Garden

From a drainage ditch to a reclaimed paradise for pollinators, this project all started with a trip to Mexico to visit the wintering grounds of migrating Monarch butterflies. After learning about the challenges they face and their declining population numbers, our client decided to turn this unused portion of yard into a dedicated butterfly garden. Native milkweed was grown from seed specifically for this project, as it is the only species of plant that Monarchs can lay eggs on. Additional plantings include a variety of native grasses and wildflowers, with a Mexican Buckeye tree taking center stage.
