White Rock Pocket PRairie
Exemplifying what is possible when homeowners give a portion of their yard back to nature.
An advocate for green spaces in the city of Dallas, our client chose to dedicate this 25 x 12 ft. portion of his front yard to native plants and pollinators. The result is what we call a “pocket prairie,” an intentionally designed oasis for wildlife that blends perfectly into the surrounding neighborhood. A rock river was included to account for proper drainage, a maintenance path, and avoiding damage to the roots of the neighboring tree.
Pocket prairies are critical for creating corridors that pollinators can utilize, while bringing together neighbors and adding to the beauty of our homes. All plants used in this project are native to Texas and naturally found from the Trans Pecos region, up through the Texas Hill Country, and into the Blackland Prairie of North Texas.
